Responsibility, Sustainability & Environment

Wedler is guided by a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy, which has been in place since 2007. The intent of the policy is to present guidelines and best practices to guide our team in reducing its environmental impact, be a responsible corporate citizen, and respect a triple bottom line including social, environmental, and economic considerations.

Wedler’s CSR policy document presents guidelines for four areas of operations including environmental policies, ethical procurement, social policies, and reporting. In all areas, sustainability is the goal.

Wedler has successfully implemented innovative sustainability strategies across various fields, including stormwater management, silt and erosion control, alternative transport systems, and land use planning. Notable examples of our social and environmental commitment include the ‘Connected by Water’ initiative on Vancouver Island and the Lazo Road Erosion Protection project. Our work on Lazo Road was featured as a cover story in the January/February 2018 edition of EGBC’s ‘Innovation’ magazine.

Environmental

Environmental sub-consultants are retained for their expertise where there is potential to impact ecological systems, where we maintain close coordination to ensure adverse impacts are avoided or minimized and mitigated.
