Alder Bay RV Resort Sanitary Sewer Outfall Replacement
Client: Alder Bay RV Resort
Location: Alder Bay, BC
Start Date: March, 2024
End Date: January, 2025
Alder Bay RV Resort has a licensed sewage outfall that conveys treated effluent from the site into the ocean. The existing PVC outfall was often needing repair; thus, a replacement was designed.
The replacement consisted of a 256 m long butt-fusion welded HDPE outfall pipe, weighted at 6 m intervals with pre-cast weight collars. The diffuser is a 4 m section of HDPE main connected via a tee with 50 mm diameter holes at 0.50 m spacing. The installation was done by floating the outfall pipe into place with weight collars attached and then sinking it by letting water into the diffuser once it was in the correct location.
