The Town of Comox retained Wedler to complete the design and construction services for approx. 700m of erosion bank protection along Lazo Road. The following overarching services were provided:

  • Concept and preliminary design, including construction phasing by priority and pre-design report
  • Geotechnical review of the area to determine erosion protection requirements
  • Wave force and coastal process engineering conducted by Northwest Hydraulics
  • Full environmental permitting
  • Cost estimates and letter report to present findings

Wedler provided preliminary and detailed design development, tender assistance, and construction services. This shoreline works project required consideration of a number of topics including geotechnical engineering, environmental permitting and approvals, and archeological studies with cultural material being found within the site.

The work performed included topographic survey, MMCD contract preparation and administration, sensitive habitat, bank reinforcement structure for erosion protection, and preparation of detailed cross-sections for clear contract requirements. Construction also included works within archaeologically significant site.
