Wedler faced a complex situation with multiple constraints and considerations. Using the smartditch product from Nilex here’s a breakdown of how it addressed the site constraints:

  • Soft and Silty Ground: Traditional methods like directional drilling or heavy equipment for pipe laying were not feasible due to the unstable ground. Smartditch loffered a solution that required less invasive above ground installation methods.
  • Neighbour’s Retaining Wall: By filling the existing drainage cut out with rock and anchoring the smartditch into it, we avoided further impacting the failing retaining wall of the neighboring property.
  • Environmental Constraints (Fish-Bearing Creek): Working within a specific time period due to environmental regulations around the fish-bearing creek necessitated a solution that could be implemented efficiently and with minimal disturbance.
  • City Approval: Obtaining approval from the City to use a new product like smartditch shows proactive consideration of regulatory requirements and innovative solutions to address local challenges.
  • Intersecting Neighbors’ Properties: Getting permission from surrounding neighbors demonstrates good communication and collaboration efforts to ensure the project’s success without infringing on their properties.

In summary, our decision to use Smartditch from Nilex appears to have been driven by its ability to navigate the various constraints effectively while meeting regulatory and environmental requirements. It’s a testament to problem-solving in challenging conditions within a structured regulatory framework.
