Land Development

Wedler civil engineering services extend the full range of private sector land development projects, including design of subdivisions, multi-family residential, commercial, and industrial sites. Our civil services consist of site design, servicing, stormwater management, grading, and other works required for obtaining all needed permits.

Wedler works with a myriad of clients and partners including owners, project managers/development managers, architects, and developers, and can fulfill many roles including Project Management and Coordinating Registered Professional (CRP).

Our commitment to understanding our client’s aspirations and vision for their development is integral to our services. We work to fully integrate our design with the project to achieve a right-the-first-time efficiency. Our project team members have the technical knowledge and experience to provide clients with a local, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective project.

Our Expertise

With our experience with all levels of government in Western Canada and the North, Wedler is very familiar with local policies, bylaws, planning documents, future expansion areas, design and construction standards, existing infrastructure, approvals processes, stakeholder group interests and priorities. This includes the provision of Development Site Servicing Permitting (DSSP) for projects in Alberta.

Wedler has significant experience designing civil works as part of developments that are then incorporated into municipal infrastructure systems. This has included works that are part of new subdivisions and works outside of a proposed development required to provide adequate service.

Proficiency in working with multi-disciplinary teams and coordination with authorities for project approval adds to the project value. At Wedler, we strive to exceed expectations and our approach and performance reflects that.

Project phasing moves the vision from initiation to implementation, with Wedler providing as many civil site services as required:

Wedler is also specialized in both traditional design-bid-build projects and working as part of a design-build venture team. Our strengths include finding solutions for complex sites such as steep slopes, environmentally constrained sites, and supporting clients with rezoning and OCP amendments.

In addition to utilizing best management practices throughout our operations, we also work to incorporate low-impact development (LID) solutions to ensure the ultimate project carries the least impact possible, and is functional, sustainable and economical.
